Juanita Lee Burenheide, 91, Iola, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at Fountain Villa.
Juanita was born Feb. 22, 1921, on a farm southwest of Moran, the daughter of George W. and Ruth Esther (Rogers) Beaman. She grew up on the family farm and attended grade school at Prairie Hall southwest of Moran. She graduated from LaHarpe High School. She attended Emporia State one year, then the College of Emporia to receive her teaching certificate. She taught seven years, five in Lyon County and two in Chase County.
On June 10, 1948, Juanita married Alfred H. Burenheide at Emporia. They made their home on a farm southwest of Emporia. In 1951, they moved to a farm northwest of Elsmore, and in 1966 they moved to their farm southwest of LaHarpe. After he died in 1979, she moved to Iola in 1980.
She was a member of Iola’s First Baptist Church.
She is survived by five brothers, Charles Beaman, Topeka, Kenneth Beaman, Gas, Dennis Beaman, Spring Hill, Reed Beaman, Santa Rosa, Calif., and David Beaman, Iola; two sisters, Geneva Dixon, Quincy, Ill., and Shirley Stewart, Springfield, Mo.; caregivers Jim and Barbie Daugharthy and family, Iola; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Vern Beaman, and two sisters, Irene Beaman and Charlotte Montague.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be left at the funeral home for First Baptist Church or Allen County Hospice. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.iolafuneral.com.
