Kenneth Leon “Tarz” French, 74, of Le Roy died Monday, July 12, 2010, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.
He was born May 10, 1936, in Le Roy, to George Washington Charles and Delora Maria (Radford) French. He grew up in Le Roy and graduated from Le Roy High School. While in high school he worked for the Standard Station and Alfalfa Mill in Le Roy.
On July 31, 1960, he married Elizabeth May Rogers in Caney. They made their home on a farm east of Le Roy.
He worked in Iola for several businesses including I.M.P. Boats, Dale Wichman Ford, Midwest Auto Parts, Guatney Motors, Mobil Service and Auto Zone.
Throughout his life he enjoyed cars by trading, buying, selling and working on them. He also enjoyed his woodworking projects and making art out of Little Debbie boxes.
He is survived by his wife of the home; a son: Kevin Lee and his wife, Laurie, Stansbury Park, Utah; three grandchildren, Clayton, Adrienne and Justin; a brother: Espin “Ep,” Scipio; and a sister, Geraldine “Jerry” Willard, Topeka.
Four brothers, George W. “Jack,” Claude W., Leonard H. and Lillard E. “Sonny,” and three sisters, Opal J. Quiggle, Mildred O. “Millie” Sharrei and Lorean N. Smith, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church in Le Roy. The Rev. Charles Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in Logue Cemetery east of Le Roy.
