Laura Mary Mead, 51, Iola, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.
She was born Dec. 21, 1959, in Denver, Colo., to Conrad George and Rose Ellen (Cavanaugh) Heiman. The family moved from Denver to a farm west of Iola in 1971. She attended Iola High School.
On March 17, 1979, she married Kim A. Mead in Iola. He died June 6, 2006.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. She enjoyed reading.
Survivors include three children, David Heiman and his wife, Sarah, Iola, and Lisa Heiman Dievert and her husband, Nathan, and Sara Mead, all of Battlefield, Mo.; a sister, Gail Laymon, Iola; three grandchildren, Benjamen Heiman, Jessia Dievert and Genevieve Mead; and two stepgrandchildren, Glenn Riddle and Mercedes Maple.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Dorothy Heiman, Michelle Koopman and Patricia Heiman.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Parish Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola followed by a Mass at 11 o’clock. The Rev. Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
