Lois Irene Kershner, 82, Moran, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Moran Manor.  

She was born Feb. 20, 1929, Kincaid, the daughter of William Elmer and Zaida Marie Worden Ross. She married Chester M. Kershner on Feb. 28, 1947 in Mound City.  

She was a member of United Methodist Church of Moran, enjoyed gardening, volunteering and spending time with and telling friends about her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Chester, of the home; two sons, Kenneth and his wife, Connie, Chanute, and Dennis and his wife, Jan, Iola; three sisters, Helen Smith, Moran, Marjorie Logsdon, Winfield, and Verl Ross, Grand Prairie, Texas; three brothers, Lawrence Ross, Marlow, Texas, Paul Ross, Indianapolis, and Gale Ross, Allen, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Ross and Doris McCollum; three brothers, George, James and Russell Ross; and a grandson, Christopher Kershner.

The Rev. David Shrum will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at United Methodist Church of Moran under the direction of Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, Fort Scott. Burial will be in Fort Scott National Cemetery.  

Memorials to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility or United Methodist Church of Moran may be left in care of the funeral home at 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS  66701.
