IHS Class of 2026 rakes in honors

Iola High School's graduating class is poised to earn more than $250,000 in scholarships through the course of their collegiate careers, courtesy of scholarships announced at the annual Senior Awards Night ceremony.

If there was any question about the legacy Iola High School’s Class of 2026 will leave behind, it was answered with authority Wednesday.

The outgoing seniors were recognized for their performances in and out of the classroom, and on the athletic fields.

An unofficial tally from the Senior Awards Assembly notes the students are on track to earn well in excess of $250,000 in scholarships to further their respective educations.

“It’s a neat experience to witness, to see the things that will help these kids in the future,” Iola High School Principal Scott Carson said.

A list of honorees follows:

McFadden Scholarship ($2,500 per semester for two years, total of $10,000): Madelyn Ashworth and MaHailie Genoble

Chapter L, PEO Award: Briley Prather

Edward Zahn FFA Scholarship: Brennen Coffield and Carly Kramer

LaHarpe Alumni Scholarship: Marlee Westhoff

Iola NEA Scholarship: Madelyn Ashworth
