Marylee Constance Clounch was born Jan. 22, 1929, to Clarence and Stella Cheney in Humboldt. She was the youngest child born to this union. Her mother, father, seven brothers, three sisters, a great-grandson and her husband preceded her in death.
Mary died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
She received her formal education in the public schools in Humboldt. She accepted Christ in her life as a child and joined Poplar Grove Baptist Church.
On June 24, 1948, she was married to William Clounch. To this union five children were born.
Mary had served in numerous capacities in the church, district and state. She served 69 years at various positions which included 40 years as Sunday school superintendent, choir member and president of Congress for Neosho Valley District. She recently was inducted into the Kansas Missionary Hall of Fame.
Mary strove to the best of her abilities to demonstrate through precepts and examples a Christ like life.
She is survived by her five children, Janet and her husband, Odell Pulley, Iola, Juanita and her husband, George Bell, Houston, Timothy and his wife, Karen Clounch, Humboldt, Cheney Lee Clounch, Denver, Colo., and Richard Clounch, Los Angeles, Calif.; two special nieces, Lynetta Boyd, Denver, and Nancy Walls, Iola; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Cheney, Humboldt; seven grandchildren, Mary Pulley, Cornell Pulley, Tyler Bell, Lauren Bell, Shawn Clounch, Brandi Clounch, Anthony Lew; five great-grandchildren, Travail Pulley, Macie Clounch, Jaydin Clounch, Aaron Lew and Jalen Broussard; two very dear companions, the  Rev. and Mrs. Kennebrew; and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
