Michael Dean Marquez, 57, of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 23, 2019 in Houston. He was born on June 3, 1961 in Chanute to Manuel and Virginia (Perez) Marquez. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1979 and then went on to Pittsburg State University. After PSU, he attended and graduated from Kansas State University.
Michael worked as a chemical engineer for Polynt Composites USA in Houston. Michael enjoyed sports, especially watching K-State, the KC Chiefs and soccer. He enjoyed playing chess, tennis and a lot of golf. Michael was a proud to be a big brother sponsor in Houston. He loved his dog, Diablo, and enjoyed dressing him up and taking him to work with him. Most of all, Michael loved his family and spending time playing cards with them during the holidays. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include mother Virginia Marquez; brothers Gregory Marquez and wife Nancy of Moran and Jeffery Marquez of Humboldt; nieces and nephews Lyslie Shifflett, Sheri Gagne, Miquela MacPhail and Johnny VansArsdale. Michael was preceded in death by his father; sister, Perfidia VanArsdale; and brother, Miquel Marquez.
Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. Friday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt.
