Mary Patricia “Pat” Marvin, 76, Iola, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Pat was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Watford Herts, England, the daughter of John and Margaret Hyland. She grew up in England and met Edward Marvin while he was in the service. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he returned to Iola. She came later and the two were married on June 23, 1957.
They made their home in Nevada, Mo., for the first year of their marriage before returning to Iola. She was a daycare provider for 50 years.
Pat was a member of First Baptist Church in Iola.
Her husband of 57 years, Edward Marvin, survives, as do two daughters, Debra Hegwald and husband Gary, Humboldt, and Lisa Facundo and husband Manuel, Iola; four siblings, Tony Hyland, Claire Sullivan, Patrick Hyland and Margaret Hyland, all of England; four grandchildren, Kaylee Hart and husband David, Humboldt, Trey Kress and wife Patience, Iola, Devan Zelaya, Lawrence, and Ridge Zelaya, Pittsburg; and four great-grandchildren, Kady, Kinley, Tayven and Dristan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Terry Hyland.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Iola. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
The family will greet friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
