Tommy Chris Jensen, 57, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
He was born Jan. 18, 1953, in Iola, the son of Lewis B. and Mary Jane (Stephens) Jensen. He grew up in the Yates Center area and attended Yates Center schools.
He joined the U.S. Air Force on April 19, 1971. He served with the 22nd Transportation Squadron where he was an operations supervisor. He attained the rank of staff sergeant before his honorable discharge on Sept. 30, 1979.
After his military service he spent time working in the oil and gas fields around Woodson County. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time growing a garden and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time on the farm raising cattle.
He was married to Dee Anne Tedder in October 1991 at the Neosho Falls United Methodist Church. She died April 5, 2009.
He is survived by two children, Kristen Jensen, of the home, and Mark and his wife, Angeliqic, Spring Town, Texas; five grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Durenda Frye and her husband, Jim, Iola, Debby Carlyle and her husband, Alan, and Jim Jensen, Bentley, Tammy McHone and her husband, Mac, Yates Center, and Lisa O’Brian and her partner, Mike, Neosho Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on March 6.
