In the news industry this week is known as Sunshine Week, which is a call for governmental bodies to be more transparent about how they do their business.
With all the hits journalists are taking these days regarding fake news, Sunshine Week is not some publicity ploy to get into the publics good graces. Rather its to remind citizens that better access to government is not just a media right, but also a public right.
When youre talking about just a handful of people making decisions that affect entire communities, the public deserves openness as to how they come by their decisions.
