Question # 7
Voters will decide Nov. 2 whether to increase a countywide sales tax by 1⁄4 of a cent to go toward a new Allen County Hospital.
Members of the Allen County Healthcare Committee address questions about the issue.
Q: What will the new hospital look like?
A. We have an artist’s view of the proposed new hospital. It will be a 60,000 square foot single-story structure on a site larger than the present one. The picture may be found at the county clerk’s office and on the county’s website, allencounty.org.  In addition, the picture is on new information brochures being distributed to all voters. Members of our speakers bureau have laminated color pictures to show to groups when they make presentations. Voters interested in preliminary building views and floor plans for a new facility can see them on pages 101-111 of the Hospital Masterplan Report, which is available, again, on the county’s website, allencounty.org. These drawings and illustrations are subject to change, but include the essential components of the building that is being proposed.
If you agree with us and would like to help our voter information effort with your time or your money we can use both. We expect it to take several hundred volunteers to get the word out with only a few short weeks before the election. Volunteer names or contributions may be sent to “Yes Allen County Healthcare,” at A.C.B., Inc, 16 W. Jackson, Iola, KS 66749 or left at the Moran, Humboldt or Iola branches of Emprise Bank where we have our checking account.
