PAOLA — The Allen County Mat Warrior wrestling club began its season over the weekend, a bit earlier than in years past.
“John Taylor, our head coach, felt our wrestlers were ready for a little mat action,” said Stephanie McDonald, one of the wrestling club’s organizers. “And he was right. The Warriors did a great job.”
The first group traveled to Paola for the Paola Wrestling Club Tournament.
The tournament was considered an open tournament, McDonald said, or one usually featuring advanced wrestlers. Allen County took four beginning wrestlers and three who had wrestled previously.
