For the first two weeks of the year, Allen Community College failed to find victory in five games — including its two preseason matchups. In fact, the Red Devils couldn’t even find the back of the net once during that stretch of games to open up the 2015 season.
But on Tuesday night, Allen finally got rid of that nagging goose egg in its win column with a 3-2 victory against Metropolitan Community College – Maple Woods in Kansas City.
Forward Jordan Velasco, a freshman from League City, Texas, scored Allen’s first goal of the night after receiving the assist from fellow freshman Troy Henry.
Kaleb Harris headed in the second goal with an assist from Kobe Mosteller. And Henry, who assisted on the first goal, scored a goal of his own to give the Red Devils the edge against the Monarchs.
James Everett, the squad’s redshirt freshman goalie, recorded four saves on the day.
The Red Devils are now 1-3 on the year  heading into their matchup with Northern Oklahoma College at 4 p.m. Saturday at home.
