Allen falls to Fort Scott 67-64

FORT SCOTT — The Allen Red Devils suffered their first Jayhawk Conference loss Wednesday in a 67-64 nailbiter to the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds. 

Consistent scoring was where the Red Devils struggled. After jumping out to a 39-31 lead at halftime, Allen came up short in the end with only 25 points in the second half. 

Three of Allen’s four starters finished the contest posting double-digits, with freshman guard Clyde Davis Jr. leading the way with 20 points. Davis also had a team-leading eight rebounds and his two assists was second to freshman guard Derrick Cooper’s four assists and a team-leading four steals. 

Other contributors included sophomore guard Moses Stephenson, who was second in team scoring with 15 points, followed by sophomore forward Jayson Demcher’s 14-point contribution. 

With the loss, the Red Devils fall to 11-7 overall and 2-1 in the Jayhawk Conference, while Fort Scott improved to 10-8 and 2-0 in the conference. 

Allen returns to the hardwood Saturday, when they host arch-rival Neosho County Community College (10-9, 1-1). Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
