After cancelling Saturday’s contest due to injuries, the Red Devils returned to the hardwood Monday with fresher legs.
Even so, the men could not keep up with the North Arkansas College Pioneers, who pulled away in the second half for a 107-95 victory.
Sophomore guard Jayson Demcher scored 26 points in the effort, followed by freshman guard Clyde Davis Jr. with 23.
Freshman guard Moses Stephenson came off the bench for 19 points and freshman guard Derrick Cooper racked up 14 points.
Defensively, Davis Jr. had a team-leading three steals while also leading the Red Devils in assists with eight and tied Demcher for the team lead in rebounds with seven each. Demcher also had three blocks.
With the loss, the Red Devils dropped to 6-5. They will have an eight-day break over Thanksgiving to recuperate.
They will take a few bumps and bruises for a good cause Wednesday, Dec. 3, when they return to the hardwood as part of a toy drive fundraiser sponsored by North Central Missouri College, Wright Memorial Physician Clinic and Saint Luke’s Mercer County.
The Red Devils hosting Seminole State College Tuesday night, but the results were not available at press time.
Allen returns to Iola Friday, Dec. 5, when they host the Park University Junior varsity at 7 p.m.
