The Allen Red Devils men’s basketball team announced it will postpone Saturday’s game against Northern Oklahoma Enid after a slew of injuries left the team with only six available players.
The announcement comes on the heels of the Red Devils’ second consecutive loss after they fell to Metropolitan Community College 94-79 Thursday night.
Allen coach Patrick Nee said the game against Oklahoma Enid was canceled “over injuries.”
“We’re trying to reschedule and it looks like December 8. We ended the game last night with six and should be healthier Monday, but I have to protect my guys.”
With only eight available players Thursday, the Red Devils got out to a slow start as the MCC Wolves ended the first half with a 45-29 lead. Allen found their footing in the second half but could not overcome their early deficit.
Freshman guard Clyde Davis Jr. had a team-leading 24 points, followed by sophomore guard Jayson Demcher with 18, then freshman guard Nyjah Noyes with 11 points. Noyes also had a team-leading nine rebounds, followed by Demcher with six.
With the loss, the Red Devils drop to 6-4 and enter their first losing streak after falling to North Central Missouri College Wednesday.
Although hating to lose, Coach Nee said it’s important for the Red Devils to cut their teeth on difficult teams. Allen hosts the North Arkansas College Pioneers Monday, who enter the contest with a 6-2 record.
“I made the schedule hard, but it will pay off in conference,” Nee said.
Tip-off for Monday’s game is at 7 p.m.
