Area junior varsity softball teams play

UNIONTOWN — Uniontown High hosted  Humboldt and Yates Center in softball junior varsity games last Saturday.
Uniontown beat Humboldt 6-4 with Mandie Ridge as the winning pitcher, giving up five hits, walking five, hitting two batters and striking out nine. Sheri Middleton pitched for Humboldt, allowing seven hits, walking five, hitting three batters and striking out three.
Ridge had two singles for Uniontown. Hitting a single each were April Bartlett, Regan Weyant, Raylene Crystal, Jamie Dawson and Amanda Poyner.
Julie Seibert doubled for Humboldt. Hitting a single apiece were Middleton, Leighton Jaro, Miranda Myers and Hannah Fiene.
Yates Center scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to beat Humboldt 17-16. Middleton went the distance on the mound for Humboldt, allowing seven hits, walking 12, hitting five batters and striking out three.
Humboldt’s Haley Riebel had four singles in the game. Morgan Morris and Middleton each hit a single and a double. Savannah Williams and Fiene each hit two singles. Myers, Megan Herder and Seibert each had a base hit.
Sierra Lenard was the winning pitcher for Yates Center, allowing 14 hits, walking five and striking out four. Becky Wendland, Lenard and Blake Crossfield each had two singles for the Wildcats and Addie Hughes hit a single.
Uniontown’s JV ran its record to 5-0 with a 13-3 win over Yates Center. Taylor Wade allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out three as the winning pitcher.
Bartlett and Weyant each connected for a single and a double for the Eagles. Dawson and Ridge each had two base hits. Crystal and Poyner had a single apiece.
Lenard and Shannon Staats pitched for Yates Center. Lexie Cantrell hit two singles and Chessa Chrisman had a single and a triple. Hitting a single each were Bri Crellin, Lenard and Bailee Stuber.
These three teams are joined by Burlington in a junior varsity tournament at Yates Center today.
