Chanute’s KINZ 95.3 FM Radio will broadcast Humboldt High’s baseball games from the 2012 Kansas Class 3A State Baseball Tournament.
The Cubs (23-0) take on Wichita Independent at 11 a.m. Friday in the opening round of the state tournament in Manhattan. KINZ’s Mike Sutcliffe will be on the air at 10:45 a.m. with pregame.
If the Cubs win Friday, they move into the semifinals on Saturday morning. They will play the winner of the Frontenac-Silver Lake game at 10 a.m.
Winners of the semifinal games play for the 3A championship at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The losing teams play at 3 p.m. in the third-place game.
KINZ will broadcast every Humboldt game from the state tournament. The tournament is at Kansas State’s Tointon Family Stadium.
Humboldt is the top seed in the 3A tournament. Wichita Independent is 15-8 overall and is the No. 8 seed. Frontenac (21-2) is seeded No. 4 and Silver Lake (17-6) is fifth seeded.
Frontenac and Silver Lake play at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
In the other side of the bracket, No. 2 seed Thomas More Prep (22-1) plays No. 7 Wellsville (17-6) and No. 3 seed Rock Creek (21-2) takes on No. 6 Salina-Sacred Heart (17-6).
Those games are at 4 and 6:30 p.m., respectively, Friday.
