Eagles enter 3A regionals

Uniontown High’s Eagle softball and baseball teams now know where they stand going into next week’s Kansas Class 3A regional tournament action.
It is the first year in Class 3A for the UHS teams.
The Eagle girls are in a softball regional hosted by Frontenac High School while the Eagle boys are playing in the baseball regional hosted by Burlington High. In both tournaments, first-round games are played at the higher- seeded teams’ home fields.
Uniontown’s softball team earned the No. 3 seed with a 13-7 record. The Eagles host No. 6 seed Southeast-Cherokee Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Also on their side of the bracket, No. 2 seeded Riverton (14-3) hosts No. 7 Erie (0-20). If the Eagles win, they play the winner of this game at 4:45 p.m. in Frontenac.
Frontenac (16-3) is seeded No. 1, earning a first-round bye. Northeast-Arma (11-9) hosts No. 5 Galena (9-11) Monday. The winner gets Frontenac at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The championship game is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

At Burlington, the two top seeds — Council Grove (20-0) and Burlington (15-5) have first-round byes.
Uniontown is No. 5 at 6-12 and plays at No. 4 Central Heights (8-12) Monday at 5 p.m. The winner gets Council Grove at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals at Burlington High School.
West Franklin (14-6)  is the No. 3 seeded team. It hosts sixth-seeded Osage City (4-16) Monday.  The winner plays Burlington at 4;30 p.m. in Tuesday’s semifinals.
The championship game is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Winners of the two regionals advance to the Kansas Class 3A Softball State Tournament and Kansas Class 3A Baseball Tournament. Those tournaments are May 27-28 in Manhattan.
