Iola High’s junior varsity volleyball team lost twice at home Tuesday.
The Fillies dropped a 25-7, 25-12 decision to Nevada, Mo., then fell 25-20, 25-5 to Girard.
“In the match with Nevada, the girls couldn’t get past their mistakes and move on to the next play,” said Casey Greenwood, IHS assistant coach. “Execution wasn’t there when it needed to be.”
Katie Thompson had two kills and two digs for the Fillies. Hannah Barclay and Keli Lee each had one kill. Tori Snavely had two set assists, and a serving ace.
Lee was credited with seven digs and Barclay had four digs. Alyssa Zimmerman made two digs. Snavely and Emma Sigg had one dig apiece.
Greenwood said the difference between the first set and the second set in the Girard match was intensity level.
“In the first set, the girls played like a team and didn’t give up. There was no intensity in the second set,” Greenwood said.
Thompson led the net attack again with four kills. Lee downed two kills while Zimmerman and Barclay each had one kill.
Snavely put up five set assists. Barclay had two ace serves. Sigg and Lee each had one ace serve.
Sigg came up with seven digs and Lee had six digs. Barclay had three digs. Essence Owens, Zimmerman and Snavely each had two digs.
