National Junior College Athletic Association officials recognized Charlotte Gatehouse’s role in giving Allen Community College a strong start to the season by naming her national female player of the week.

Gatehouse, a sophomore transfer from Southampton, England, was responsible for 8 points over four games, including the game- winning score earlier this week against State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Mo.

Though the ACC women lost their first match of the season to Brookhaven, 9-0, they’ve been in the win column ever since.

Gatehouse has been key to Allen’s offense.

In a 2-1 victory over Richland, she had an assist.

And in Allen’s 5-1 home win against Crowder College, she scored a pair of goals and picked up an assist.

The Jayhawk Conference also named Gatehouse as the DII soccer player of the week. Gatehouse and company return to the field Saturday for a game against Neosho County.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
