CHANUTE — Iola High’s junior varsity softball team earned a split Tuesday with Chanute.
Iola’s Baylea Thompson limited Chanute to a single first-inning run of the opener in a 7-1 win.
The Blue Comets responded in the second game, winning 13-3.
In the opener, Thompson struck out three with one walk.
At the plate, Micaiah Larney scored three runs, while Shelby Reno and Ashlie Shields scored twice.
Hits were not recorded in the official scorebook.
The Fillies took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the second inning of the second game. Chanute scored once in the second, then took the lead for good with a seven-run third.
Larney, Katie Shields and Bayleigh Seeber scored Iola’s runs in the second game.
Thompson recorded two strikeouts.
