Last Saturday, the Iola junior varsity boys took on Humboldt in a tournament in Waverly and walked away with a 64-55 win.
The Mustangs jumped out to an early 19-8 first-quarter lead and increased that to a 41-21 lead by the half. The Cubs were able to keep it within 20 in the second half but couldnt get close enough to Iola to make it a game.
Sophomore Bradyn Cole had a big game with 25 followed by 10 for sophomore Landon Carson. Sophomore Jack Adams had nine, freshman Tyler Boeken had eight, junior Noah Ashmore and sophomore Nathan Louk each had five and junior Brody Nemecek had two.
Kyle ONeal led the Cubs with 12 points followed by eight for Thane Meadows, six for Cooper Jaro, four for Briar Orth, two for Drake Harrington and Drake Hottenstein and one for Caleb Klauman.
The Cubs ended their JV season on Monday with a 53-46 victory over Neodesha while Iola still has games versus Santa Fe Trail at home today before traveling to Wellsville on Friday.
