HUMBOLDT — Consistency hasn’t come to Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs yet this season.
The Lady Cubs dealt out an 11-1 win over visiting Oswego High’s Indians Friday in the first game. Then the Indians took a 9-6 victory in the second contest.
“We need more consistency in one night playing back-to-back games,” said Brad Piley, Humboldt head coach.
The Lady Cubs are 6-8 overall. They host Uniontown on Thursday.
“Melissa Davidson pitched a very good game for us,” Piley said of the first game with Oswego. “She gave up only one hit and two walks. That’s what we want every night.”
Davidson had five strikeouts in the 11-1 win. Humboldt scored three runs each in the second and third innings and plated five runs in the fifth.
Hannah McCall had a triple. Hitting a single each were Amanda Maxton, Davidson, Hannah Fiene and Kindahl Young.
Humboldt trailed 5-2 when it scored five runs in the second inning to gain the lead in the second game. But Oswego tied the game in the thrid then scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth while holding the Lady Cubs scoreless for three innings.
Davidson was the losing pitcher as she gave up 10 hits and struck out two. Maxton had two singles. Taylor Fitzmaurice, Davidson and Young each had a single.
