Lady Devils drop four games in Joplin

The Allen County softball team was in Joplin for the Crowder Bash at Crowder College over the weekend and went 0-4.
The Lady Devils fell to Crowder College 10-6, Carl Albert State College 5-2, Murray State College 5-1 and Kirkwood Community College 14-0. Allen County is now 4-14 overall.
In the first game, the Lady Devils fell behind 7-3 after two innings. Allen County cut it to as close as two but three runs in the bottom of sixth secured the win for Crowder.
Freshman Darby Lewis had three hits and two RBIs and sophomore Julia Keating had two hits and two RBIs.
In the second game, the Lady Devils got a single run in the first six innings while Carl Albert plated five. Allen County’s only other run was in the top of the seventh.
Sophomore Winter Henry had three hits and two RBIs, including a home run.
In the third game, Allen County went into the bottom of the seventh down 5-0 before scoring a single run.
Henry, Lewis and freshman Sam Greninger each recorded a hit in the loss.
The Lady Devils wrapped things up with a shutout loss in five innings. Kirkwood scored all 14 runs in the first four innings while scoring seven and five runs respectively in the second and fourth innings. Freshman Chelsey Henry had the Lady Devils’ only hit.
Allen County will try to rebound on the road at Johnson Community College on Tuesday.
