Lady Devils go 2-2 over the weekend versus Cowley and Indy

The Allen County Lady Devil softball team felt highs and lows at home over the weekend getting swept by Cowley on Friday before rebounding to sweep Independence on Saturday.

The 2-2 weekend moved the Lady Devils 9-19 overall and 4-6 in league play.

Allen County lost the Cowley series 13-2 and 5-1.

Center fielder Winter Henry was the only multi-hit Lady Devil in the first game and in the second game, only three hits were recorded.

Reliever Dela Boyd earned the loss in game one and starter Abby Walker earned the loss in game two.

Allen County committed three errors in game one and four in game two.

The Lady Devils bounced back in a big way on Saturday winning 11-1 and 9-1 over Independence.

The bats were hot in both games as Allen County hit two home runs in each game and had a combined 20 hits. First baseman Sam Greninger and starter Sierra Thompson homered in game one and left fielder Chelsey Henry and right fielder Julia Keating went yard in game two.

Thompson started both games and earned wins in both.

The Lady Devils will wrap up a 10-game home-stand on Tuesday when they host rival Neosho County. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
