Locals take on Iola Rodeo

Although the Iola Rodeo typically draws riders from across the region, this year's two-day event had more than a few Allen County area riders looking to test their skills at Riverside Park.

Multiple area riders earned a few dollars while placing at the Iola Rodeo.

Despite sweltering heat during both nights of the Iola Rodeo, Humboldt rider Dakota Slocum posted the only local first-place finish winning the ranch bronc contest after scoring an 84.

Contest results as follows:

Bareback: 1. Gavin Gercone, 67 points

Open calf roping: 1. Cory Dummit, 10.4; 2. Gus Johnson, 11; 2. Wade Perry, 11.

Over-40 calf roping: 1.  Dustin Jilke 10.1; 2. Gary Herrin, 10.9; 3. Jason Arndt 11.

Steer wrestling: Mike Bullard, 4.4; Tyler Mann 6.

Breakaway roping: 1. Rachel Brownback, 3; 2. Sydney Herrin, 3.1; 3. Anna Miller, 3.7; 4. Karley Perry 4.9; 4. (tied) Kinley Taylor, 4.9.
