Mat Warriors earn medals at Burlington

BURLINGTON — Allen County Kids Wrestling Club’s Mat Warriors had a strong outing at last weekend’s Burlington Kids Wrestling Club’s Open/Novice tournament.

In the open tournament —

Eli Adams took first in his 6-and-under 46-pound class bracket. Titus Jones placed third and Jarrod Powe was third in 46-pound class brackets also.

Curt Shannon ended up third in his 6-and-under 37-poound bracket. Payton Houk finished second in the 52-pound, 6-and-under class.

Mattix Cole grabbed first place in the 6-and-under 61-pound class. Alejandro Vargas finished in a three-way tie for first in the heavyweight bracket.

Jeremy Ridge claimed first in the 10-and-under 70-pound class. Cheyenne Harris was third in the 10-and-under 76-pound bracket.

Seth Sanford placed second in the 12-and-under 190pound class. Andrew Garber was fourth in the 14-and-under 160-pond division.

In the novice tournament — 

T.J. Taylor took first in the 8-and-under 49-pound class. Cooper Woods placed third in the 8-and-under 52-pound class and Adam Atwell was second in the 58-pound bracket.

Also in 8-and-under, Clay Shannon and C.J. Shields earned gold medals at 64 pounds and 70 pounds, respectively. Trenton Jones took second in at 95 pounds.

The Mat Warriors compete in a tournament in Parsons Sunday. Then travel to Fort Scott on Jan. 29.
