Mims gives Allen sweep over Colby

COLBY — Sometimes you need a little luck.
DaRon Mims and Allen  Community College used some luck to get past Colby Community College on Saturday with a 76-75 win.
The Red Devils trailed by two with four seconds left when Jacob Patterson inbounded the ball to  Mims and Mims got just past half-court when he heaved one toward the basket.
The ball banked off the glass and went in to improve Allen’s record to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Jayhawk Conference.
Mims finished the game with a team-high 25 points.

ACC WOMEN 65, COLBY 61
The Red Devils were able to hang on to pick up a 65-61 road victory over Colby on Saturday night.
Allen built a 45-21 halftime lead and it looked like they would be able to cruise to an easy victory, but Colby had other plans.
Colby roared back in the second half and tightened the game up, but Allen made several key defensive stops in the final minutes and was able to hang on for the victory.
The Red Devils improved to 2-1 in conference play.
Damonica Franklin led the team with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
