MVHS golfers are third in TRL

MOUND CITY — Marmaton Valley High’s golf team ended up third at Monday’s Three Rivers League golf tournament. The 18-hole event was held at Sugar Valley Golf Course.
Dalton Houk missed the medals by one stroke. He shot a 109, taking 11th. Dillon Woods and Mason Coffman, both of Pleasanton, had 108s for ninth and 10th place.
Pleasanton claimed the league team title with a 353 led by the TRL individual champion Joey Morrisey. Morrisey won the top medal by 18 strokes, shooting a 72, over his teammate Matt Schmidt, who was second at 90. Pleasanton placed all six of its golfers in the top 10.
Oswego finished second at 460 followed by Marmaton Valley with a 479. Uniontown High was fourth at 496.
For Marmaton Valley, William Nunnery shot a 115 and Dillon Yeager hit a 121. Ben Smith carded a 134 followed by Chance Stevenson at 139 and Cody Night at 151.
Uniontown’s Seth Sympson turned in a 116 to lead the Eagles. Tyler Davidson shot a 123. Chance Hoener finished with a 128 followed by Brendon Wood at 129. Zack Travis and Cole George each shot a 130.
On Monday, Marmaton Valley’s Wildcats tee off in the Kansas Class 2A Regional Golf Tournament hosted by Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan at Pittsburg’s Crestwood Country Club.
Uniontown hosts Monday’s Kansas Class 3A Regional Golf Tournament at Sugar Valley Golf Course in Mound City.
