The Allen Community College men’s basketball team wrapped up the bulk of its non-conference schedule with an 87-66 victory over Labette Community College at home on Tuesday night.
Jermaine Long was once again Allen’s leading point scorer after finishing the game with 16 points. The sophomore also recorded six assists as well as two steals.
Ithello Cross, DaRon Mims and Jah-Kobe Womack each had 12 points.
Cross, a 6-foot-7 redshirt freshman, also finished the contest with 10 rebounds to give him a double-double.
Perhaps the key to the victory Tuesday night was the Red Devils’ ability to score points from the free throw line. Allen went 25-for-36 from the charity stripe compared to Labette’s 4-for-7 performance.
The Red Devils have just one non-conference game remaining on their schedule, which will be Feb. 6 against Ottawa University. Allen begins league play at home on Dec. 2 against Seward County.
