The Allen Community College basketball program came away from its road matchup with Pratt Community College with split results.
The Red Devils dropped to 10-9 on the season and 2-7 within the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference following their 87-76 loss to the Beavers on Wednesday night.
The last two months marked a free fall for the men’s team, which has now lost seven of its last nine contests including the last two in a row.
Allen’s 3-7 stretch over its previous 10 games is the second worst among its conference foes — Cloud County Community College is worse at 1-9.
Although the Red Devils are around the middle of the pack in terms of scoring in the KJCCC, they lead the league in points allowed per game with 82.2. The next closest is Coffeyville Community College, which allows 79.6 points per game.
Meanwhile, the Lady Red Devils broke into the win column for the first time since Jan. 6 with a 77-68 victory over Pratt.
Although the women’s team still sits well below .500 at 6-13, its 2-7 conference record now matches the men’s record within the KJCCC.
The Lady Red Devils still own the worst average of points per game in the league, but their defense was able to make enough key stops on Wednesday to hold the Beavers to 68 points — the lowest since Allen’s last victory against Colby earlier in the month.
Allen has not won two games in a row since mid-November, but it will attempt the feat Saturday at home against Cowley Community College.
