EMPORIA — Lebo High’s Tyson Robke put in a buzzer-beater Thursday evening to give the Wolves a dramatic 41-40 win over Southern Coffey County High’s boys.
The victory relegates the Titans to the seventh-place game at 10:30 a.m. today in the seventh-place contest of the Lyon County League Tournament.
In girls action, Burlingame pulled away down the stretch to defeat Southern Coffey County 51-36. The Lady Titans will face Marais Des Cygnes Valley this morning at 9 o’clock, also in the seventh-place matchup.
The tournament is at the William Allen White Auditorium.
IN THE BOYS contest, Southern Coffey County pushed out to a 22-15 halftime lead before Lebo scored 13 unanswered points in the third quarter to lead 28-22.
But the Titans responded, edging in front 40-39 in the waning seconds, setting up Robke’s final shot.
Aaron True led the Titans with 15 points, followed by Josiah Witteman and Charlie Patterson with eight and seven points, respectively. Robke scored 17 points to lead the Wolves.
The Lady Titans trailed Burlingame 26-19 at the half and 37-29 at the end of three quarters. Burlingame outscored SCC 14-8 in the fourth quarter.
Martyna Hegwald and Breanna Isch each scored 11 points to pace the Lady Titans.
The Southern Coffey County boys hold a record of 3-10 overall and 1-8 in Lyon County League play. The Lady Titans also are at 3-10 overall and 0-9 in league action.
Southern Coffey County’s teams resume regular season play Tuesday at home against Crest.
