The SEK Vipers, a 14U traveling softball team, competed in the USSSA C National Tournament in Topeka last weekend.

The Vipers, which consist of 10 girls from Iola, Humboldt, Chanute, Colony and Osawatomie, played 11 games in three days going 8-3 over the weekend to claim third place in the tournament.

The tournament had 26 teams from Kansas, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, and Missouri.

Tournament pool play began on Thursday. The Vipers went 2-1 on the day with the one loss happening by one run.

Going into bracket play on Friday they were ranked eighth of the 26 teams and went 2-1 losing their last game of the day by just one run. On Saturday, bracket play continued with the girls facing elimination. They played five back-to-back games going 4-1 on their way to the finishing third.

Throughout the tournament the Vipers scored 75 runs while allowing 41.
