Uniontown girls roll over Crest

UNIONTOWN — Uniontown High’s Eagles used strong runs in the second and fourth quarter to hand visiting Crest High’s Lady Lancers a 62-34 defeat as the regular season ended.
The win capped the Eagles’ 6-1 trek in Three Rivers League play and 13-7 overall. The Lady Lancers finished up at 1-18 overall and 0-6 in league play.
The Eagles were up 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. A 14-2 surge for Uniontown left Crest behind in the second period.
There was a scoring explosion in the third quarter — Uniontown 17, Crest 14. The Eagles settled things down, outscoring the Lady Lancers 17-8 in the final eight minutes.
Uniontown shot 37 percent, 22 of 59, from the field. Jacy Ermel did most of the damage inside with 22 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots.
Abbie Smith had nine points and nine rebounds. Smith and Tayler Shook each had three assists.
Amanda Strickler fired in 18 points for Crest. The Lady Lancers were 14 of 46, 30 percent, from the field.
Crest plays a first-round game in 1A regional tournament action Tuesday at Marais Des Cygnes Valley. Uniontown waits for Class 2A substate seedings on Wednesday.
