ARMA — The Yates Center Wildcats picked up a pair of wins while on the road for their season debut against Northeast and Southeast High School Tuesday evening.
The Wildcats began the night with a 25-19 loss to the Northeast Vikings.
The Wildcats refused to taste defeat for the remainder of the evening, taking their next three sets over two contests for the triangular sweep.
After wrapping up the 2024 season mired in the middle of the Three Rivers League pack, the Wildcats used Tuesday’s victories as a springboard. Against the Northeast Vikings, the Wildcats came away with consecutive victories 25-19 and 25-21. The Vikings finished seventh in the TRL last season.
Yates Center then turned its attention to Southeast — the 2024 TRL runner-up. After taking the first set 25-20, the Wildcats mollywhopped the Lady Lancers by nearly a double-digit margin in a 25-16 to secure the sweep and the triangular.
With the win, Yates Center improves to 2-0. They return to the hardwood Saturday for a tournament at Uniontown High School. First serve is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
