LE ROY — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s volleyball team had a thrilling, and highly successful, night on the court Monday.
The Wildcat A team rallied from an early deficit to knock off Southeast of Cherokee in three sets, 20-25, 25-13 and 15-6.
The fun continued against host Southern Coffey County, where MVJH eked out a 25-20 and 25-23 victory.
The Wildcat B team also Southeast, 15-7 and 15-10 and then Southern Coffey County, 15-12 and 15-5.
KENNA BOONE’S serving turned the tide for the Wildcat A team against Southeast.
After dropping the first set, the Wildcats led 14-13 in the second when Boone served up the final 11 points of the set to force the tiebreaker. She again was a dead-eye behind the service line, delivering the first six points of the match. Kylee Resco also served up six straight before Layten Blevins served up the match-winner.
Blevins served up five straight in the opening set against SCC to give the Wildcats the upper hand. McKenna Meiwes also had a strong set with a three-point run.
Amanda Kierychn got her moment to shine in the second set with a six-point service run. Blevins and Resco also served up critical points to secure the sweep.
Emily Heskett took the reins in the B team win against Southeast, with an early six-point service run. Ellie Stinnett had a six-point run in the second set against Southeast to secure the sweep.
Against Southern Coffey County, Heskett served up a combined 11 points to lead the way.

ON SATURDAY, Marmaton Valley’s B team also competed at a tournament in Iola.
The Wildcats fell, 25-12 and 25-12 to Royster Middle School of Chanute; 25-16 and 25-14 to host Iola; 25-16 and 25-4 to Humboldt; before splitting a two-set match against Independence, falling 25-14 in the first, but winning the second, 25-20.
Heskett served up seven straight points to start the final set against Indy, before she added another eight-point run. Stinnett served out the set victory.
