High School Softball: Lady Cubs 17, Lady Chargers 0; Lady Cubs 5, Lady Chargers 0
The Humboldt softball team continued its undefeated ride through the Tri-Valley League Tuesday night when they swept Cherryvale at home 17-0 and 5-0.
The Lady Cubs move to 12-2 overall and 8-0 in league play.
Despite scoring 16 runs in the first inning, the star of game one was on the mound. Senior starter Rylan Wilhite threw a perfect three-inning game allowing no runs on no hits or walks. She struck out
six.
Wilhite also led the team in hits in game one with three singles to go along with three RBIs. Aricah McCall and Maggie Johnson had a single and a double and an RBI and Kirsten Roush had two singles and four RBIs.
Winter Snyder had two hits, three RBIs and two steals and Morgan Mauk had a hit and two steals.
Cherryvale kept it close in game two, keeping the Lady Cubs off the board until they scored two runs in the bottom of the third. Humboldt scored two more in the bottom of the fifth and another in the sixth.
Wilhite was excellent once again, allowing just three hits while striking out 11.
Mauk had two hits, two RBIs and three stolen bases in game two and freshman Isabelle Murrow hit a solo home run over the left field fence as one of her two RBIs.
The Lady Cubs will travel to Lebo on Friday.
