Baseball stalled and softball soared in Yates Center on Monday versus Northeast-Arma.
The Lady Cats hosted the Lady Vikings and won both games convincingly, 15-1 and 12-0, while baseball traveled to Arma and lost 4-2 and 8-6.
The wins even Yates Center softballs record at 2-2 while baseball drops to 0-4.
In game one, Maddie Collins got the start for the Wildcats and gave up just two hits with seven strikeouts and zero earned runs.
Morgan Collins and Taylor Jacobs each had four hits while Jordan Weseloh and Maddie Collins had two hits.
The Lady Cats turned that one-run win into a shutout in game two. Jacobs started and gave up one hit while striking out seven.
Emma Chrisman had three hits and Kyra Griffith and Jacobs each had two hits.
IN BOTH BASEBALL losses, the Wildcats allowed Arma to get up on them early and then struggled to make a full recovery.
In game one, they trailed 3-0 after the first two innings while in game two, despite an early 2-0 lead after the first two innings, Arma had a four-run third to take the lead for the rest of the game.
Nolan Jones took the loss in game one, allowing three runs off four hits and three walks with three strikeouts while Asher Sievers took the loss in game two, allowing four runs (none earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and a home run.
The Wildcats registered four hits in game one led by a triple from Sievers.
Jones, Caden Graham, Jaymond Rice, Joey Smith and Kendrick Jones each picked up two hits in game two.
The Wildcats committed eight errors in the second game.
Yates Center is set to take on Cherokee-Southeast this afternoon if field conditions allow. As of press time, the games had not been canceled.
