A mountain lion was spotted last night four miles north and three-fourth miles east of the Drive-In Theater by Raymond Bauer. Bauer stopped his vehicle and kept the lion in his headlights for about 3 minutes. This morning he brought the lion’s paw print, which he had dug up, into The Register. A big hunt for mountain lions is planned for an area near Carlyle.

STRAWN (AP) — This little town is going to have to move to a new location along U.S. 75 about four miles north of Burlington. Nearly all of the 26 families and business firms will go to the new site because the present location will be flooded after the John Redmond dam on the Neosho River has been completed in 1965. The town has purchased an 80-acre tract and is having it platted. The nearby town of Ottawa has been invited to join New Strawn.

The most extensive grooming job in the history of Allen County’s courthouse park is now completed, Ed Sell, resident engineer, said this morning. The lawn has been seeded and hand-raked and 41 forsythia bushes donated by the Iola Dirt Diggers Club have been planted under the direction of Mrs. Jake Billbe. Nearly 1,000 new trees and bushes have been planted in various parts of the park, he said.
