Pastor Chase Riebel continued his resurrection series Sunday talking about the battle for eternal life that was won on the cross. When Jesus said “It is finished,” the battle was over. Jesus had defeated Hades and death.

Greg Kropf spoke to the congregation about Gideon International, known for placing Bibles in motels and distributing them to fifth-graders all over the world. He also showed a video of Pastor Joplin Emberson from Derby, Kansas, who received one of the Gideon Bibles as a youth which later became instrumental in his conversion from a life of drug addiction to Christianity.

Rochelle Smart led worship singing “Confidence,” “My Redeemer Lives,” “Psalm 19” and “Change My Heart.” Rochelle talked about God choosing David as King. David’s brothers were all older and of larger stature but God does not look at appearance, God looks at the heart.

Bruce Symes used John 3:16 in his communion meditation to convey that we should make this verse, as well as our relationship with Jesus, very personal. Isaiah 53:5-6 tells the horror of the crucifixion that was the consequence of our sin.
