Iola Elementary School kindergartners were rewarded for using their imaginations Thursday;

The kindergartners in Jessy Ashworth’s kindergarten class were visited by Iola High School drama students, with stuffed monsters for each of the pupils.

The designs for each of the monsters were inspired by the kindergartners, IHS drama instructor Regina Chriestenson explained.

Each of the younger students were asked to draw a monster, give it a name, and even come up with a list of its likes.

The drawings were handed over the high-schoolers, who then made tiny staffed animals matching the descriptions.

Crafting the little critters took several weeks, Chriestenson noted, but gave the high-schoolers a valuable skill in learning how to sew up costumes for theatrical productions.
