Libraries receive funds

Libraries in Moran, Savonburg and Jefferson Elementary School in Iola received grants from the Southeast Kansas Library System. The funds will have several uses, officials said.

The Southeast Kansas Library System awarded several grants to area libraries to develop their collections.

Jefferson Elementary received $1,490.41, specifically to purchase materials that pertain to STEM — science, technology, engineering and math — subjects.

Moran Public Library received $625. Its funds are to be used for beginning reader chapter books.

Savonburg Public Library received $1,500 to be used for STEM games and learning tools.

The SKLS, headquartered in Iola, is one of seven regional library systems in the state, providing financial, technological, and professional support to libraries and library users around the state.
