The Iola Municipal Band will begin its weekly rehearsals for the upcoming 2026 summer concert series at 7 p.m. Monday at Iola’s American Legion Post at 215 W. Garfield St.

The weekly rehearsals will move to the Bowlus Fine Arts Center on May 11, director Phil Becker announced.

The band has played continuously since 1871, making it one of the oldest municipal bands in the nation.

This year’s performances will include a special showing at some point this summer at the State Capitol in Topeka.

The band traditionally plays for Iola’s Memorial Day ceremony, and then hosts public concerts each Thursday evening through June and July at the Allen County Courthouse Bandstand.
