Dignitaries gathered Friday to cut the ribbon to the new turf field at the Riverside Park football stadium in Iola. The high school football team kicks off its home schedule Sept. 11. The Iola Middle School Mustang football squad will host Osawatomie Sept. 3.

A large crowd turned out Friday as USD 257 Board of Education member Dan Willis cut the ribbon for the new artificial turf at the Riverside Park football stadium. A large crowd turned out Friday as USD 257 Board of Education member Dan Willis cut the ribbon for the new artificial turf at the Riverside Park football stadium.

Crews completed the $1.2 million installation over the summer.

The ribbon-cutting preceded Friday’s Blue-Gold Scrimmage, with the IHS football and cross country teams getting in a spirited practice.
