MV math students compete

Marmaton Valley High School's math students had a strong showing at the Fort Scott Community College Math Relays Friday.

FORT SCOTT — Marmaton Valley High School attended the Fort Scott Community College Math Relays on Friday.

Sixteen students competed by taking 15-minute timed tests in geometry, algebra, equations and inequalities, simplifications, mental math, potpourri, word problems and trigonometry.

Each student competed in at least two of the categories.

Truett Blevins took third in ninth-grade algebra, while Tayleigh Forman, Cooper Scharff and Sophia Heim each took home fifth-place finishes in ninth-grade mental math, 11th-grade equations and inequalities and…
