Ottawa Middle School and Ottawa High School hold a combined awards banquet and certificate ceremony each spring to honor the students at those schools who are in the top 5% of their class academically. Of course, this year the honors banquet had to be canceled. However, the students received their award certificates in the mail. Three of the great-grandchildren of Jeanne Ann Masterson Percy of Iola, and the late William Glenn “Curly” Percy, were awarded their top 5% certificates: Austin William Trinkle (16), Grace Kathryn Snethen (14), and Griffin William Snethen (11). All three are also the grandchildren of Chuck and Michelle Percy Johnson of Ottawa. Austin is the son of Amy Lynn Finch, and Grace and Griffin are the children of Scott and Beth Ann Snethen, all of Ottawa.
