The dog days of summer have brought a familiar treat to the Allen County Farmers Market: melons!
Growers have begun plucking fresh cantaloupe and watermelon from their gardens and brought them for purchase.
Thursdays Farmers Market session in downtown Iola will include a wide variety of fresh produce, baked good, as well as Around the Corners booth with iced coffee, lemonade and sandwiches.
The market runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the east side of the square.
The scene shifts to downtown Humboldt from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday on the square, with fresh-baked goods, produce and hand-crafted items.
On hand for the market from 1 to 4:30 p.m. next Tuesday at 700 N. State St. in Iola are hand-crafted items, fresh-baked goods and a number of items fresh out of the garden.
Vendors accept EBT and debit cards and participate in the Double Up Food Bucks Program.
