TOPEKA — Iola High School seniors Colton Schubert and Cody Cokely doubled up on their hardware Saturday.
The duo successfully defended their Class 4A championship in improvised duet acting at the State Speech and Drama Championships hosted by Washburn Rural.
Meanwhile, senior Jordan Strickler brought home a prose interpretation championship with his piece from Steinbeck’s “Of Mice And Men.”
Seniors Jordan Garcia and Danielle Venter brought home third with their duet acting piece “Marriage Counseling.”
Sophomore Trilby Bannister — the only underclassman from Iola to make it to the finals — earned sixth place for her humorous solo acting piece “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculaton: Snow White.”
The students worked under the direction of forensics coach Regina Chriestenson, with an assist by Richard Spencer.
