HUMBOLDT — One utility extension project is a go for Humboldt and another is moving closer.

Humboldt council members gave City Administrator Cole Herder the go-ahead to extend a six-inch line 2,000 feet east of town to provide water for a seven-mile-plus rebuild for U.S. 169 running north from Humboldt. The city’s portion of the line will be buried and 1,000 feet of feeder line will be laid by the end-user at ground level.

The extension will start from a line feeding the Humboldt schools sports complex and end at 1400 Street. Cost of the project, to be done by Humboldt’s crew, is estimated at $18,500, which “we should recoup with water sold for the highway work,” Herder said.
